Why I Started SupplyLink

In 2019, I was running a small e-commerce business importing products from China. I could navigate 1688 myself — I'd studied Chinese for two years and had a local partner. But I kept seeing the same problem: friends and clients in the US, UK, and Europe wanted access to 1688's prices but had no way to buy from it.

No Chinese account. No CNY payment method. No way to verify quality before shipping. The barrier was real.

So I started helping people one by one — a friend who wanted to resell fashion accessories, a dropshipper who needed a reliable sourcing partner, a small business owner who found a product on 1688 and couldn't figure out how to buy it.

Word spread. By 2021, I was doing this full-time. Today, I handle orders ranging from a single sample to container-load shipments for regular clients in eight countries.

How I Got Here

2016

Moved to Guangzhou

Took a job in import/export sourcing. Learned how Chinese manufacturing and wholesale distribution actually works — not just the theory, but the reality of dealing with 1688 sellers, negotiating prices, and managing logistics.

2018

Started learning 1688

Spent a year navigating 1688 and Taobao extensively — understanding supplier verification, MOQ structures, dispute resolution, and how to identify trustworthy sellers versus fraudulent ones.

2019

First clients through word of mouth

Helping a US-based friend source fashion accessories from 1688. The process worked so well that he told three others, who told others. The business grew from there.

2021

Full-time purchasing agent

Formalized the operation as SupplyLink. Set up the Guangzhou warehouse for QC and consolidation. Started taking regular dropshipping and wholesale clients.

2024

Expanded to e-commerce fulfillment

Added blind shipping, consolidated international shipping, and product photography services for dropshippers selling on Shopify, Amazon, eBay, and TikTok Shop.
